Iris Nebula

The Iris Nebula (also known as NGC 7023 and Caldwell 4) is a bright reflection nebula in the constellation Cepheus. The designation NGC 7023 refers to the open cluster within the larger reflection nebula designated LBN 487. The central part of the nebula is illuminated by star SAO 19158 but the dust extends out in nearly all directions, including the top of the image and the bottom right.

NGC 7023, the Iris Nebula is the first reflection nebula I have attempted to image. I captured over 11.5 hours of images and integrated 9 hours and 16 minutes of images. I really like the blue of the reflection nebula, even if over saturated. The dark dust clouds were difficult to capture because they are nearly as dark as the background of space, easily drown in light pollution. I am really happy with how this image turned out.
